Phoenix: Hey There's Dirt!

Ho hum... Well Phoenix blows. Well, it's not that exactly. I believe that my brother blows. It's amazing how the edges soften with age and the memories turn that much more blurry. You forget about the things that used to drive you crazy and screaming into the dark night.

How I wish I could go back to that person that typed the entry on the 18th and said "No! Run for your life!" It's been the little things that have gotten to me these last few days. Coupled together? One big irritation indeed.

My brother doesn't really live near anything interesting. There's a lot of dirt/desert/brown stuff everywhere, so it's not exactly walker-friendly. Apparently he can go to Tempe, Scottsdale, or downtown Phoenix but it takes around 30 min. each way. My brother drives a stick. Sarah does not know how to drive a stick. This makes Sarah VERY unhappy. I have been for a very good portion of this trip confined to this damn apartment! Either he was at work or he just didn't feel like going anywhere. Needless to say I've been just a wee bit peeved.

I really don't appreciate spending over $200 to fly my butt out here to just fucking sit around and do shit that I could be doing at home, with my friends no less and having a hell of a better time, for free! I think that all my brother does is work and then go to bars on the weekends. Thus he really doesn't have much culture and doesn't really lead a very interesting life. Therefore that makes my experience THAT much more of a problem. Sarah loves learning, museums, ect. He does not. I'm utterly surprised at how nonplussed he is.

Which brings us to the mother load! Even if I could get him to go out and take me somewhere, I really don't want to be near him. We went out last night to have dinner in Tempe and then see a movie with two of his friends. For the sake of preserving my own family name I will not divulge completely what transpired but I will say that I have now privately vowed that I will be seen with this individual in public only when absolutely, positively necessary and at such times will remain a good 5 to 10 feet away so as to give the impression that I do not know him, am not with him, and we are certainly not related to one another!

I have one more day and by God I am going to do something fun dammit! As sure as I type this I will have fun tomorrow and will spend a good deal of time out of this miserable condo. Only to return to watch The L Word at 10PM. Finally! A redeeming quality! He has Showtime! He should thank God because I might have to bury him in the damn desert...
