I was channel surfing the other night and came across The O'Reilly Factor on FOXNews. I've always heard about Bill O'Reilly but never watched his show. I just wrote him off as some pundit with his head firmly planted in his ass. Oh how right I was. He was talking about gay pride (A topic I'm sure we can all agree on that he has so much knowledge about... anyway moving on!) and the 32nd annual New York Gay Pride Parade.

I couldn't begin to believe the verbal droppings coming out of his mouth (if you would like to view them surf on over to the transcript here. He had two guests on the show, Joan Garry, the executive director of GLAAD and Norah Vincent, a columnist for the LA Times. The short of it was he ripped them apart. It was just disgusting how he did it, seemingly undermining everything they said, as if it were a set up. It was the most condescending, rude, and down right ugly thing I've seen in a while.

A few "lowlight" quotes:

"A point I make in the O'Reilly Factor book, as well as on television and radio, is that it (gay pride) is often harmful to homosexuals who identify themselves in a sexual context. My thesis is that you're an American first... But your life will be much more difficult if you flaunt your sexuality, no matter how you practice it."

"I can tell you, Ms. Vincent, and Ms. Garry that most people watching us right now, and there are millions around the world, are dealing with it this way: I don't like those people. I don't want them intruding on my family. And I don't want them anywhere near me. And if you think that's going to get you equal rights or any currency in the society, you're crazy."
