Thoughts On the Grammys:
1. U2 are an awesome band. Bono is the shit!
2. Who thought Train would win a grammy? Not me ...
3. India.Arie was totally shafted! She had 7 (!) nominations and didn't win jack shit! Recount!
4. What was with Britney Spear's hair?
5. The Moulin Rouge performance confirmed that you can look even more whore-ish (hello Christina Aguilera) if you try hard enough. I was afraid for Patti LaBelle to keep herself in her dress dammit!
6. Horray for Alison Krauss & Union Station on their two awards. They rock!
7. Michael Greene's Grammy Address was the biggest, sanctimonious, crock of shit I've ever heard. I can honestly say that the fault can't be put squarely on the shoulders of people who download. It should be shared with record execs and A&R people who draw up contracts that are GROSSLY unfair for artists. It maximizes profit for corporations and minimizes the security and earnings of artists. I'll agree it's unfair in the instance were it's music by people who self-make/produce their work (i.e. when all the money is going straight to the artist) but if it's the case of Sony Music Corp. I'm going to hardly shed a tear if Tommy Mottola doesn't make his seven figure income this year. In conclusion ... blow it out your ass Michael Greene.
8. Alicia Keys is the shit!
9. Nelly Furtado's preformance of "I'm Like A Bird" with Steve Vai rocked my socks!
10. The Gospel Medley scared me. If you like that stuff, great. More power to ya but me on the other hand was rather turned off by it.
11. The award for Best Polka Album was a hotly watched catagory. Frankly, I think everyone should own a copy of Brave Combo's "Kick-Ass Polka". If anything just for the fact that it's called "Kick-Ass Polka".
12. Fatboy Slim won Best Short Form Music Video for "Weapon Of Choice". I think Christopher Walken is going to be getting more call-backs now.
13. Was it just me or did you notice Hugh Hefner's presence with about three Playbimbos on each side of him?
14. Loved Mary J. Blige's performance.
15. The Heineken ads were great.
I guess that's all for now ... I can't wait till the Oscars! *evil laugh*
